1970 Plymouth Duster 340

Click here to see Kori's Dart Swinger 340.

Car owned by Kori Alexander

Kori's Duster was originally Moulin Rouge but had been repainted at some point. You can see the original color in the engine compartment photos.

This car is a 1970 Plymouth Valiant Duster 340 of which 42,817 were built; 21,799 for the USA and 3,018 for Canada. This car is a little "rare" to most because of the 340 three speed manual transmission (4 speed and 727 were optional). 15.6% of production had this engine/transmission combo - 3400 US cars and 470 Canadian cars. The most unique and desirable feature of this Duster is the factory FM3 Pink Paint option (currently Maroon). Known as Moulin Rouge or Panther Pink. 1.9% of production were pink or 414 USA cars and only 57 Canadian cars such as this one (has anyone seen one?)

Other options include: Duster 340 Interior Decor package which includes the following: deluxe steering wheel, door panels and dash with woodgrain dress up trim. Dual horns, day-nite rear view mirror, Rallye wheels, Rallye dash with Tach, chrome exhaust tips, AM radio, light package, Black bucket seat interior with neat (and optional) charcoal grey seat inserts and carpet. This car also has the rare A17 option which is the Canadian Spring Special Package with vinyl roof (black). This package includes: accessory floor mats, tinted windshield, LH remote sport mirror, rear defogger, undercoating/hood pad, front and rear bumper guards and of course the vinyl roof.

The spring special package and FM3 paint are both mid-year options. This car also came with the black stripes down the side of the body and between the taillights - these being each separate options. The last option (it is a very well optioned Duster!) is the J81 rear spoiler which is indeed factory installed unlike most cars out there today. 4.3% of Dusters had them in 1970, 937 USA cars and 129 Canadian cars. This is an Alberta car with 52,000 miles (as of 1997). The numbers matching 340 is rebuilt, balanced, blue printed, 11.5 to 1 forged .030 over pistons, crane cam and is FUN (AND FAST) to drive!
