I purchased this T/A from the second owner in 1988. He said he got the car in1977. This is an original California car with personalized plates (PINK T/A). The restoration began in 1991 and has just recently been completed. During the restoration I decided to make some creative changes in the car but maintain an overall stock appearance. I have all of the original numbers matching parts for the car. The first change was to replace the automatic transmission with a Richmond Gear 6 speed overdrive manual box. I did this by installing a E body 4 speed tunnel hump so it all looks like a stock 4 speed setup with a pistol grip shifter.
The next change was to install an air conditioning system including an original E body A/C dash. I did not want to use the big Chrysler compressor so it was replaced with a Delco rotary style, which fits neatly above the power steering pump. All pulleys and brackets for this installation where custom fabricated. Some of the more minor changes are things like urethane suspension bushings, Koni adjustable shocks, rear offset spring brackets for wider tires, 10 inch rims in the back and 8 inch rims in the front. Pioneer Super Tuner and CD player with automatic antenna, 1971 GTX seats slightly bolstered, addition of a black vinyl top and a hidden vacuum pump for the power brakes.
The engine uses the original block with new heads that have been ported and larger valves installed. A 360 crank with ground mains gives the engine a displacement of around 375 cubic inches. The Mopar Performance Purple Shaft cam with a Hemi grind was used with new hydraulic lifters. Pistons a forged 9 to 1. Clutch and flywheel are new as are the Holly carbs. Air cleaner lid and base are original steel. TTI headers ceramic coated lead to original T/A mufflers and tail pipes. In the front end every thing that can be replaced new has been. Rotors, ball joints, tie rod ends, bearings etc. A quick ratio cop car steering box was installed. Everything that could be was powder coated throughout the entire car. All hardware was either new or cad and zinc plated. Silver or white on some parts and black on others.
The body was 100% striped and media blasted. There was and is NO rust on this car. It was damaged in the right front and has had an inner panel and fender replaced. All bare metal was sprayed with epoxy primer. The paint is base coat clear coat sanded and buffed. I matched an original panel for color accuracy. All the stainless has been polished. The glass is Chrysler tinted. The windshield is new. The grill is NOS as is the wiper motor, gas cap and side markers. The number of new parts from various sources is too long to list here. I have the build sheet for the car and here is the build plate;
