Previous owner Greg Biggs kindly provided the following history of the car from when he owned it.

Being born in 1949 I was there when Muscle cars were at their hey-day. I fell in love with the 68-70 Chargers when they came out and promised myself one day I would have one. The years went by and by 1985 I had a mortgage, 3 daughters, and never forgot about my dream of owning 68-70 Dodge Charger. In October 1985 I spotted a very tired 70 Charger backed up to garage right near the Freeway exit. One Sunday afternoon while the ladies were coffeeing, my friend Bruce and I went and found the Charger and looked it over. The guy that owned it came out and when I asked him if he wanted to sell he said (much to my surprise) yes. Some haggling ensued and I bought it for 1800.00.

I left it there for 2 or 3 days before I picked it up and in that time someone stole the original air cleaner and carburetor. The car was primer and painted and had bondo and was I guess rather ugly, but I didn't care, I was in love. I knew about fender tags as I had been selling Chrysler products since 1978. I took the paint code (FM3) from the fender tag and one day at work found an old service manual but that paint code wasn't listed in there. I do not remember how I found out the color was Panther Pink. I found out about Galen Govier in a car magazine and sent him a pencil rubbing of the fender tag and he decoded it for me for free at that time.

Over time I learned about number matching and although this car had 115,000 hard miles on it the numbers all matched. When the engine rebuilder was redoing the motor he told me 2 or 3 teeth were broken on the cam gear and the timing chain was the original and had lots of slack.

Over the years I bought and sold 3 or 4 other cars to get parts for the car as there were some but not a lot of reproduction parts available compared to today. Finally in 1991 I gave the car to Bruce (my body man friend who was with me when I found the car) and he went to work on it. With his expertise and my money he transformed the car from crushable to beautiful.

To this day I am not exactly sure why I wanted to sell the car but I did. I sold the car in 1993 and although it is gone, I made a great friend and know the car will be preserved forever. So if you are out and about and especially around the Chicago Area, and even the Mopar Nats, and you see the most beautiful Panther Pink 70 Dodge Charger R/T with a White Interior, Vinyl Roof and Rear Stripe, say hi to my friend and owner of the car Scott Spirakes.
