1970 Dodge Dart Swinger 340

Please read the Terms of Use page before continuing.

Car has been sold several times over the year. On 1/26/22 it was sold at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction for $64,900.

Description from 2006 eBay listing:

Your are looking at a true surviving example of 1970 340 Dart Swinger factory finished in legendary FM3 Panther Pink with only 9,500 actual miles on the odometer. The car was originally purchased by the first owner's mother as a graduation gift. His friends continually teased him about the pink color. Embarrassed by it, the Pink Swinger became a garage queen. The car has since joined the ranks of those much sought after Mopar's that are both rare and desirable.

She was even featured in the November 1987 issue "Muscle Cars" magazine article by Tony DeFeo titled "Pink Panther, '70 Dart Swinger with 4100 original miles." A copy of the magazine is included with the car, as is original owners manual and IBM Card.

As is the case with the rest of the car, the factory original 340-4barrel V8 has not been restored or rebuilt. The car starts with one turn of the key, runs and drives fine with no signs of oil burning. Some of the areas in the engine compartment were not perfect, the photos show a couple wrinkled panels, evidence of a 30+ year-old fender-bender. Original belts, hoses, plug wires, and even original Goodyear Polyglas E70X14 bias-ply tires testify both to its unrestored factory original status and low mileage.

The body panel fit on this car is excellent. The doors and deck lid close and fit with ease, with tight even gaps. The 36 year-old FM3 Panther Pink has aged gracefully, showing only a few smile lines, stone chips and minor road rash on the hood and front fenders are the only evidence of its age. Factory "OK" grease marks still persist on the rear license plate.

The interior reflects the remarkably low mileage. Upholstery and seating show minimal wear, there isn't even the typical 'bite marks' found where the seat back meets the cushion. The dash is also in very good condition, no cracksor warping. All the switches work. The original build sheet is probably still waiting to be discovered somewhere in the cabin.

Underbody is what you'd expect, light surface rust on suspension components parts that came bare from the factory. Undercoating on the floor pans wheel wheels is typical for the era, and the likely reason this Pink Lady is so well preserved. A careful cleaning and detail of the underside would get it to stand up without the need restore it. The hood scoops on this 340 give this muscle car a look of performance. The black bee stinger stripe gives the car attitude. This FM3 Panther Pink Dart Swinger is the very meaning of Mopar's "Big Bang for your Buck" performance image.

According to visual inspection performed by Appraiser Greg Denk Sr. of I-Van, this car deserves a condition grade of #2. No comparable vehicle can be found on the World Wide Web. A copy of that inspection will be made available upon request to registered bidders.

Note that this car reportedly had a fender bender in the 1970s and the front end was damaged. Body parts may have been replaced as indicated by the 1971 grille. The inner fenders have damage to them.
